For America: Paintings from the National Academy of Design

This traveling exhibition from the National Academy of Design features portraits of and self-selected representative works by many of the National Academy’s best-known elected members, including artists from the institution’s founding, in 1825, through the present.

One hundred works are on view, by such Academicians as Frederic Edwin Church, John Frederick Kensett, Eastman Johnson, Winslow Homer, George Inness, Wyatt Eaton, John Singer Sargent, Cecilia Beaux, Kenyon Cox, Maxfield Parrish, Thomas Eakins, Gertrude Fiske, Isabel Bishop, Peter Hurd, John Steuart Curry, N. C. Wyeth, Reginald Marsh, Philip Pearlstein, Jane Freilicher, George Tooker, and Lois Dodd.
