John Ridland

John Ridland translated Sándor Petöfi’s folk-epic John the Valiant (Budapest, 1999). Ridland’s A Brahms Card Ballad: Poems Selected for Hungarians (Dowticher Press, 2008), was first issued in Hungarian translation by the Europa Press in 2004. Part II of his translation of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight appeared in The Hudson Review (Winter 2009), and Part IV will be printed in the same journal in 2010. His own recent poems are to be found in Askew, Literary Imagination, Parnassus, The Robert Frost Review and New Zealand Books, and he has been chosen as the Featured Poet in Light.
